2016 Suzuki Alto 800 launched in Sri Lanka at LKR 20.15 lakhsAssociated Motorways (Private) Limited, official distributor for Suzuki cars, has launched the new Alto at LKR 20.15 lakhs (Rs 9.33 Lakh) in Sri Lanka. Last month, Maruti Suzuki launched the updated Alto 800 in India at Rs 2.49 lakh. The new Alto will be available in four variants – Lxi, Lxi(O), Vxi and Vxi(O). The optional variants get driver airbag as standard.
Yamaha Japan has recalled approximately 1500 units of its R3 sportsbike over oil pump and transmission issues. According to Yamaha, the oil pump is said to have a design flaw which may restrict it from functioning properly. Secondly, the transmission problem resides with the clutch plate bearings. As reports suggests, the bearings don't possess sufficient strength and the continuous use of the clutch plate may damage the bearings, leaving the R3 non-operational.
TVS to launch semi-automated manual transmission motorcycles in India
TVS Motor Company had filed a patent in 2009 for semi-automated manual transmission (SMT) technology which has been granted in May this year. According to the patent filed by the TVS Motor Company, the motorcycle that will come equipped with a semi-automated manual transmission will have a switch on the handlebar to shift gears instead of a conventional gear shifter on the footrest.
Nissan Micra CVT prices slashed by up to Rs 54,000
Nissan India has slashed prices of the Micra CVT trims by up to Rs 54,000. The Micra CVT range now starts at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom-Delhi). The Nissan Micra CVT was first launched in 2013 in a single XV trim. In 2015, Nissan had introduced the Micra CVT in the XL trim.
Rolls Royce Dawn to launch in India on June 24
Rolls Royce has geared up to launch the convertible avatar of its ultra luxury coupe Wraith, the Dawn on June 24, 2016 in India. This two door, four seater vehicle will be propelled by a mammoth 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12, with a different tuning than the Wraith producing a chunky 570PS of power and 780Nm of torque.
Mahindra XUV500 1.99L AT arrives in Delhi-NCR at Rs 14.51 lakh
Mahindra has launched the XUV500 AT with a 1.99-litre engine developed exclusively for the Delhi-NCR in India. The XUV500 AT 1.99L will be available in three trims: W6, W8 and W10. The prices for the 1.99L XUV500 AT are Rs 14.51 lakh for W6, Rs 15.94 lakh for the W8 and Rs 17.31 lakh for the W10 variant.
2016 IOMTT: Michael Dunlop wins Senior TT
Michael Dunlop won the Senior TT at the 2016 IOMTT in a recordbreaking fashion. The Hawk BMW rider set a new absolute lap record at 133.962mph shattering his own record of 133.393mph, set last Saturday in the RST Superbike TT Race. His lap time for the second lap was a staggering 16min 53.929s, much better than his already record breaking 16min 58.254s.
