Nissan Terrano AMT to be launched in India this month

Renault launched the updated Duster at Rs 8.47 lakh in March this year. Apart from the design changes in the exterior and the interior, the new Duster also got an AMT gearbox on the RxL and RxZ variants. Our sources have now confirmed that Nissan too will be introducing the same Easy-R AMT gearbox in the Terrano, since the Terrano shares most of its mechanicals with the Duster. The Nissan Terrano AMT is expected to launch in India this month.

Unlike the Renault Duster which received a facelift with a new headlight and a bumper revision, the Terrano might retain its design without any changes. However, the cabin can make use of the updated features that the Duster gets. Considering the fact that the Terrano is positioned as a premium offering above the Duster, Nissan might look at equipping the SUV with features like automatic climate control, touchscreen music system with navigation as well as more appealing trim design.

The powertrain options in the Nissan Terrano include the 1.6l petrol that makes 104PS and 145Nm and the 1.5l diesel that comes in two states of tunes - 85PS and 110PS. Similar to the Duster, the Terrano too will get the AMT option on the 110PS motor. Renault also updated the Duster with new T4 electrical & electronics architecture along with CMO10 engine compartment for enhanced safety. We expect the same to make its way to the Terrano AMT as well. The Nissan Terrano is manufactured at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant at Oragadam, near Chennai

Presently, Nissan is offering benefits of upto Rs 60,000 on the Terrano. The Japanese car manufacturer will also be launching the performance based 2016 GT-R and the X-Trail hybrid at a November-December this year in India.
