Filled with anticipation and excitement, the automotive landscape in India is set to host new releases in the upcoming year. From new generation and facelift models to modern electric vehicles, the industry gears up for a wave of launches. Let us shed some light on a preview of what is on the list for 2024.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

The much-anticipated new generation of the Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to debut in India next year. Having premiered at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, this iteration comes packed with updates including a new engine featuring mild-hybrid assistance, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more. While the existing Swift starts at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it is expected the new-gen Swift may command a higher premium.

Hyundai Creta Facelift

Set for an early 2024 unveil, probably in mid-January, the long-awaited Hyundai Creta facelift promises a refreshed appearance, redesigned interior, a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and Level 2 autonomy. With these enhancements, the 2024 Creta facelift's prices are expected to range between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 18 lakh.

Citroen C3x Sedan

French automaker Citroen is eyeing expansion in India with the introduction of the new C3X sedan. Expected to share design traits with its current line-up, including the C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross, the C3X is likely to arrive in the latter half of 2024, priced between Rs 10-14 lakh.

Mahindra Thar 5-door

Among the most anticipated launches for the coming year is the introduction of the new Mahindra Thar five-door variant. Several leaked spy shots have revealed exciting details such as all-LED lighting, a sunroof, an updated infotainment system, and advanced electronics. Likely to retain the same powertrain options as the Thar three-door, the Thar five-door could be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 19 lakh.

New-gen Kia Carnival

Following the updated Kia Sonet's debut in India, the next release from the marque is the fourth-gen Carnival, slated for a 2024 arrival. This premium MPV, showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, is expected to introduce a facelift with refreshed exterior and interior elements, potentially costing around Rs 30 lakh.

New-gen Renault Duster

Renault is poised to reintroduce the Duster to India in 2024, featuring a revamped rugged style, modern interiors, multiple petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrain options, all-wheel drive, and ADAS. Price estimates for the new Duster range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 17 lakh, positioning it against competitors, such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Mahindra XUV.e8

Mahindra revealed a series of electric SUVs under BE and XUV sub-brands at an event in the United Kingdom. Among them is the XUV700-based XUV.e8, potentially arriving in the country soon. Expected to sport a substantial battery pack coupled with two electric motors for an all-wheel-drive system, the XUV.e8 might be priced between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki eVX

Scheduled for a 2024 debut in the Indian electric vehicle market, Maruti Suzuki's eVX showcased at Auto Expo 2023 is anticipated to be locally manufactured. Sporting a battery pack up to 60kWh and a single motor setup, it could offer a range of approximately 450-550km, with expected prices ranging between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.

Tata Punch EV

Tata is actively developing the new Punch EV, a micro electric SUV projected to offer a range of up to 350km, akin to the Tigor EV and Tiago EV. Anticipated to feature an updated design, enhanced interiors, a larger infotainment system, and additional features, the Punch EV might be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.

Skoda Enyaq

Expected to debut in India in 2024, the long-awaited Skoda Enyaq EV is available in international markets with various powertrain options and two drivetrain choices, offering a maximum range of 570km according to WLTP standards. Initially imported, the Enyaq's prices are likely to range between Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh.
