Mercedes EQE SUV to make Indian debut on September 15

Mercedes-Benz India is preparing to add another all-electric vehicle to its lineup, with the Mercedes EQE SUV set to make its formal premiere here on September 15. The EQE SUV will join the portfolio's all-electric EQB SUV and EQS electric sedan.

Mercedes EQE SUV: Design and Dimensions

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV follows the EQS, EQE, and EQS SUVs on the brand's EVA (electric vehicle architecture) platform. Interestingly, the EQE SUV is somewhat less in size than its sedan counterpart, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm, overall length of 4,863, width of 1,940 mm, and height of 1,686 mm.

Its styling is similar to that of the bigger EQS SUV, although with a more severely slanted roofline and an angled rear. AMG cars get their own stylistic cues, such as a redesigned Panamerica-style grille, restyled bumpers, and distinctive wheel designs.

Mercedes EQE SUV: Powertrains

The EQE SUV is offered in a variety of configurations and trim lines throughout the world, but all models are powered by a 90.6kWh battery that supports up to 170kW of DC fast charging speeds. First up, the EV's single electric motor on the back axle produces 292PS and 565 Nm of torque. However, if one chooses the EQE 350 4Matic, the dual-motor system boosts torque to 765 Nm while reducing the range to roughly 560 Km.

There is a more competent option in the form of the EQE 500 4Matic, which has 408PS and a maximum torque of an amazing 858 Nm.

The Mercedes-AMG SUV comes in two trim levels: EQE 43 4Matic and EQE 53 4Matic+, both with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. The former generates 476PS and 858Nm and has a WLTP range of up to 488km. It claims to be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds and achieve a peak speed of 210 kmph.

The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ is the top-of-the-line model, with 625PS and 950Nm of torque. It also receives the Dynamic Plus package, which increases power to 687PS and 1,000Nm. With the Dynamic Plus option, it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and achieve a peak speed of 240 kmph.

Mercedes EQE SUV: Interiors

This all-electric SUV is not only elegant, but it also has innovative and functional features. This EV SUV also features a 12.8-inch infotainment display screen, Mercedes-Benz's MBUX software, and may be managed by vocal communication (speech commands). The interior compartment of the EQE SUV is rather spacious, with enough of headroom and legroom.

This five-seater electric SUV has just two rows of seating and no possibility for a third. To improve the in-car experience, this all-electric SUV has ambient lighting strips throughout the interiors, a Burmester music system, a 12.3-inch digital display cluster, and a head-up display.

The Mercedes EQE SUV will take on the recently launched Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX in the Indian market.
