Mazda-Fiat finalize plans for next-gen Miata and Alfa
Fiat-Mazda had inked a deal last year about developing a new roadster jointly. Now, both the manufacturers have announced to this very effect that the new Alfa Romeo roadster will be based on the Mazda MX-5 and will be built at the latter's Hiroshima plant. Though both the cars will have a rear-wheel drive layout and similar chassis, their design as also engines will most likely be different. Both the cars are expected to be in the showrooms in 2015.
