Maruti Suzuki to launch Toyota Innova Hycross-based MPV in India soon

Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will introduce an all-new premium MPV in India in the next two months. It is not a secret that the upcoming Maruti MPV will be none other than the Toyota Innova Hycross-based model. Interestingly, it will be the first Toyota to be available as a re-badged Maruti Suzuki vehicle in the Indian market.

According to some media reports, the upcoming Maruti premium MPV will leverage from the Toyota Innova Hycross' 2.0-litre, inline-four cylinder petrol engine paired with a small battery pack and an electric motor, making it a strong hybrid system. The system produces a combined output of 186PS. Mated to this strong hybrid powertrain is an e-CVT automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Maruti MPV may provide a claimed mileage of 21.1kmpl similar to the Innova Hycross.

New Innova Hycross-based Maruti Suzuki MPV: Variants and Features

While Toyota offers the Innova Hycross in choices of six trim levels, namely G, GX, VX, VX (O), ZX, and ZX (O), the new Maruti Suzuki MPV is likely to be available in three or four variants across the strong hybrid powertrain option.

Further, the Maruti's re-badged version of Innova Hycross could benefit from a bunch of features, such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a nine-speaker JBL surround sound system, dual-zone temperature control (separate front- and second-row zones), powered drive seat with memory function, powered rear seats with leg rests, connected car features, 360deg camera, multiple airbags, and powered tailgate, among others. It is also likely that Maruti will offer ADAS with its MPV, making it the first Maruti to feature the advanced technology.

New Innova Hycross-based Maruti Suzuki MPV: Design and Interior

Maruti Suzuki may redesign its version of the Innova Hycross to differentiate between the two models. For this, expect it to redesign the front and bumpers, radiator grille, and alloy wheels. The upcoming Maruti MPV might also come with distinctive headlamps and taillamps. On the inside, the dashboard, seats, and centre console could remain unchanged, except for the new Suzuki logo on the steering wheel.
