Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to be sold through Nexa, gets ABS as standard by mid-2017

Maruti Suzuki entered the premium sedan segment with the Ciaz in 2014. Its design and performance made the Ciaz one of the bestselling sedans for the company. It competes with the likes of the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. As a part of 2017 update, Maruti Suzuki is all set to make ABS as a standard feature on all variants of the Ciaz by mid-2017.

With an increasing focus on safety, Maruti Suzuki recently introduced ISOFIX mounts for child seats as a standard feature across all variants of the Ciaz. In 2017, Maruti Suzuki will also be shifting the Ciaz from its regular dealerships to the more exclusive Nexa network. The variant naming of the Ciaz will also be changed to Delta, Sigma, Alpha and Zeta. Both these changes apply on every vehicle sold through the Nexa network.

The brand is also working on increasing its Nexa dealerships which presently stand at more than 150 outlets across 94 cities in India. By March 2017, the company plans to have 250 such outlets for a wider reach. In addition to the increasing reach, the other reason on Nexa network expansion is the addition of two new products. The first is the highly anticipated crossover-styled hatchback Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Based on the iM-4 concept and built on an all-new platform, the Ignis will be one of the premium offerings. It will come equipped with a 110PS/170Nm 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol motor. Last month, it was reported that India-bound Suzuki Ignis received a 3-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.

The other offering that will be sold through this network is the Marut Suzuki Baleno RS, powered by a new 3-cylinder Bosterjet turbo-petrol engine that makes 112PS and 175N. The Baleno RS will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and the Fiat Punto Abarth. Both the new offerings, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, will be manufactured at the company's new plant in Gujarat.
