Jaguar to sell 10 XKR-S GTs in the UK
Jaguar's XKR-S GT sports car was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show this year. It has now been announced that Jaguar will sell 10 units of this vehicle as right-hand-drives in the UK. This increases its original production plan of 30 units only for the US and Canada.
With deliveries to customers in the UK planned for October 2013, the 'ultimate road-going XK' will carry a price tag of GBP 135,000. The XK recently clocked a lap at 7 minutes and 40 seconds in the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. This officially made it the fastest ever road-going Jaguar in the 'ring.
At the heart of the Jaguar is a 5.0-liter V8 engine that dishes out 550PS and 680Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission transfers power and an active electronic differential keeps things tidy. The XK does a 0-100 in about 4 seconds while reaching an electronically limited top speed of 280kmph.
The car gets a dedicated aerodynamic package and suspension tweaks which increase downforce and optimise cornering. An elevated rear wing, rear diffuser, carbon-fiber front splitter, dive planes and extended wheel arch spats are some of the elements used to improve aerodynamics. A better suspension assembly is is present with a wider front track, new bushings, and a steering system with faster steering ratios.
