Isuzu Motors India to hike prices of D-Max V-Cross and D-Max S-cab
Two days ago, Mercedes-Benz India had announced that it will hike prices of its entire model range from January 1, 2017. Now, Isuzu Motors India has decided to follow suit. The Japanese manufacturer has announced that the ex-showroom price of the D-Max V-Cross and D-Max S-Cab will be raised by three to four per cent. The new prices will come into effect from January 1, 2017.
It is not uncommon for car manufacturers to hike prices during the end of the year. They typically attribute it to rising costs or at times the rising forex rate. And Isuzu Motors India too has stated that their decision to hike prices was taken owing to a rise in input costs. Most manufacturers also announce a price hike during the year end to clear out remaining stocks.
Last month, the Andhra Pradesh government had exempted Isuzu vehicles purchased between November 18, 2016 and March 31, 2021 from Motor Vehicle Tax. Currently, the road tax amounts to around 14 per cent of the vehicle's cost for private registration. For commercial vehicles, the road tax amounts to Rs 800 per annum. Isuzu Motors has a manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units which can be expanded to 120,000 units.
