India-spec 2021 Skoda Octavia interiors leaked ahead of launch
With the India launch of the fourth-gen Skoda Octavia imminent, a set of images of the new sedan's interiors have appeared on the internet which reveal quite a few new details. Skoda India has confirmed that the new Octavia will launch in India this month, the car's launch being delay due to the restrictions in place to counter the second COVID19 wave. Skoda-Volkswagen India has already begun production of the car here at its Aurangabad facility.
The spy images show that the fourth-gen Skoda Octavia will get a dual-tone beige and black colour combination on the inside. The highlights along the prominent central band on the dash are done up in gloss black as are the trim pieces on the doors and centre console. The new two-spoke Skoda steering wheel will also be seen here while most of the climate controls have now moved to the floating centre screen and to a bank of capacitive panels below it.
The car seen here confirms the addition of a top-spec Laurin and Klement version right from launch. This version of the 2021 Octavia should get features like full-LED headlamps, auto headlamps and wipers, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and some form of connected car tech. The touchscreen is the new 10.1-inch MIB unit while the 10-inch driver's display gets completely revamped graphics. These pictures also show that the Octavia will now get rear sunblinds and a dedicated boot release. Space has grown too, there is now more knee room and 600 l of boot space. A sharply-cut set of alloys will be fitted to the India-spec car, possibly of 18-inch size. Aside from the L and K, expect to see a couple of lower specced variants as well.

Aside from its sharper looks, this generation of the Octavia has also grown in size. It's 19mm longer now at 4,689 mm and is 15mm wider at 1,829 mm. The wheelbase is 2,686mm and wheel sizes upto 19-inches will be available. Skoda India has confirmed that the 2021 Skoda Octavia will be available in a single petrol engine option. This will be the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor as seen on the facelifted Superb, making 190PS and 320 Nm, and pairing with a seven-speed DCT.
2021 Skoda Octavia expected prices, rivals, Skoda upcoming launchesThe Skoda Octavia will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Elantra and some SUVs like the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson with prices ranging from Rs 18 to 22 lakh expectedly when it launches later in June. Following the Octavia, Skoda India will launch the Skoda Kushaq SUV in the country in July. A new sedan will come after this later in 2021 or early 2022, larger than the Rapid but positioned below the Octavia. Also, the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq will be launch with a petrol engine during the festive season.
