BMW recently made a grand entry into the booming Indian big bike space, and what's got people talking is the attractive pricing of their product range. Among the bikes on sale in India is the BMW S 1000 XR. The German manufacturer calls the bike its first adventure sports bike and certainly packs the credentials to that claim. It's a bike that's aimed at those who seek a bike that can tour but at the same time offer a dose of sportiness for those quick weekend blasts.

The bike is powered by a 999cc, in-line 4-cylinder motor that develops 160PS and 112Nm. The S 1000 XR is priced between Rs 18.5 lakh and 21.5 lakh, all prices ex-Delhi. Here's a quick look of the bike.

The S 1000 XR cuts a rather impressive design, and the blend of sporty and adventure has been executed quite well. The Standard trim gets all the basics right, including the slipper clutch, stability control and ABS. The Pro model adds the BMW auto-blipper, adjustable riding modes, cruise control, semi-active electronically controlled suspension, heated grips, main stand, luggage and a low seat

The bike gets a 999cc, liquid-cooled, in-line 4-cylinder engine that develops 160PS at 11,000rpm and 112Nm at 9,250rpm. Low-slung exhaust means water/river wading depth is limited. This bike certainly is built for fast-paced touring as well as corner carving

The S 1000 XR has a 20-litre fuel tank. It gets dual, 320mm floating discs up front and a 265mm disc at the rear. ABS is standard and switchable

The non-identical headlamps have started to become a common feature on BMW motorcycles

Attention to detail and fit and finish is top-notch
