ICICI Lombard launches road side assistance cover

A 'Road Side Assistance cover' has been introduced by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd. as an add-on that can be utilised by its private car insurance policy customers. The additional cover will provide all-round assistance in case of an emergency like vehicle breakdown or accident. A nominal cover, starting at Rs.99, will be charged for any car brand or model or year of manufacture.

The breakdown support also helps rectify minor mechanical faults over the phone or if required at the site

At a time when vehicles are getting more expensive, insurances and insurance-related services are becoming dearer. The customers are no longer satisfied with average services. A surveyor coming and inspecting the damage to the car and filing his report with the insurance company that later settles your claims are just the basic duties of the insurance companies. Consumers are now looking for an experience and not just a product.

The 'Road Side Assistance cover' comes across as an effort on part of ICICI to offer something different, services that go beyond the basic claim settlement feature of insurance policies. "With the new Road Assistance Cover, we are offering timely and much required support to our customers during their hour of need. This will ensure that our customers derive the maximum benefit out of their motor insurance policy," said Sanjay Datta, Chief - Underwriting and Claims, ICICI Lombard.

A few noteworthy features of this add-on cover include arrangement of accommodation for the insured in the event of the vehicle being immobilized due to a breakdown or accident, arrangement of alternative transport (taxi), breakdown support to help rectify minor mechanical faults over the phone or if required at the site, arrangement of fuel in case of an emergency, assistance to the nearest garage over the phone and using the GPS and message relay to send SOS messages to the family members in case of vehicle breakdown.
