Hyundai Motor India Foundation begins mobile rural healthcare initiative

The Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Hyundai Motor India, has commenced its first program under its Sparsh Sanjeevani rural public healthcare initiative. The project, 'Mobile Chikitsa' is a mobile primary healthcare clinic with a doctor on board and equipped with testing facilities for on-the-spot diagnostic tests. The unit was flagged off from Laxmangarh, a tehsil in Alwar district of Rajasthan.

The mobile unit will cater to a community of up to 25,000 people and can service up to three additional communities if required. An MBBS-qualified doctor will be on-board to provide free consultation and medicines through the attached pharmacy. The Mobile Chikitsa unit is equipped with testing facilities for spot diagnostic tests covering blood sugar, BP, Malaria, Dengue etc. They will not provide any routine vaccinations. Alongside, awareness programs about different diseases and their prevention will also be conducted.

The Mobile Chikitsa unit will cover two villages per day through a fixed roster, servicing around 100 patients. Patients will be provided with a health card to record their case history and individuals diagnosed with serious ailments will be referred to the nearest government or private hospital. The first van will cover the villages of Lili, Raipur Jat, Jawli, Toda, Hasanpur, Mundjori, Tilakpur, Ucchar, Narnol, Gor Pahari, Deewli, Manjpta, Semla, Berla Bass, Kajota and Kanwara.

This initiative by the Hyundai Motor India Foundation is in alignment with the government's Ayushman Bharat Yojana which is meant to create 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres in rural India by transforming the existing Sub Centers and Primary Health Centers.
