Geneva Motor Show 2019: Skoda Kamiq SUV interior design revealed

Skoda has revealed the images of its upcoming premium compact SUV, the Kamiq. The Czech automobile brand has released the exterior design sketches last month which did give a strong idea of the new design language that will be used on the new-age Skoda cars. The Skoda Kamiq will be positioned below the Karoq SUV and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the upcoming Kia SP2 SUV. Skoda has confirmed that the Kamiq SUV will be showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show scheduled to take place from March 5 to 17, 2019.

Skoda mentions that the cabin of the Kamiq SUV takes its design inspiration from the Vision RS concept, that was showcased at the last year's Paris Motor Show. As seen on most of the new-age Skoda SUVs, the Kamiq too gets a host of straight lines and minimalist design theme. The central infotainment screen has been positioned in an ergonomic way to make it easily accessible for the front row occupants. Also, the kamiq will come with an optional virtual cockpit that features one of the largest displays in the segment at 10.25 inches. Though the images does not mention it, we believe this system will be offered with CarPlay and AndroidAuto connectivity options along with Mirror Link. Making the cabin feel more spacious in terms of appearence are the side air vents that flow into the doors

The Skoda Kamiq's cabin boasts of a high-quality, soft foam surface with a new, crystalline structure based on a unique grain. This will be seen on the door trims, interior panels and also around the centre console. It will come with ambient colour options such as copper, red or white. Additionally, Skoda will be offering Suedia, a fine microfiber material, as an upholstery option along with  optional heating system for the windscreen, rear seats and steering wheel. Based on the MQB platform, the Skoda Kamiq has a wheelbase of 2,651mm, knee clearance of 73mm in the back and a 400litre boot space that can be further increased to  1,395 litres with the rear seat backrests folded down
