2012 Paris Motor Show – quick look

Suzuki S-Cross – Maruti's SX4 has been long in the tooth now and the S-Cross' styling can very much inspire the future styling of the SX4. Suzuki have also confirmed that this concept will be making it to the production lines soon.

Hyundai i30 – The 3-door i30 will come with a choice of four engines with five power outputs aligned to a choice of 6-speed manual and auto transmissions. It joins the 5-door hatch and tourer range to grace the Hyundai stalls.

Ford EcoSport – Ford's all important SUV for the Indian market will come with the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. It will have a large front grille; slim, detailed headlights; and cladding on the side sills and bumpers. It will be equipped with Ford SYNC in-car connectivity system, which uses voice-activation technology to enable owners to answer phone calls and select music from devices connected via Bluetooth or USB.

Chevrolet Trax – Chevy's first entry into the small SUV segment will come with a choice of three engines – a 1.4L turbo petrol, 1.6L and 1.7L diesel engines. Measuring 4.2mm in length, the Trax will be an ideal SUV for India.

Ford Mondeo - To be offered in four-door, wagon and five-door guises, the Mondeo will have a choice of 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 1.6-litre diesel engines under the hood. Ford India have plans for bringing this car to India as part of the One-Ford plan.

Ford Fiesta hatchback - To be available with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 1.6-litre turbo engines, the 2013 Fiesta will packing in premium technology features like Ford's SYNC infotainment, MyKey – owners can set the maximum speed limits as also enable other safety aids.

Jaguar F-Type – The company's all-new two-seater convertible sports car is front-engined rear-wheel drive. It will be available with a choice of three petrol engines including the 495PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged motor.

Toyota Verso – A compact people carrier which will be a good rival to the Maruti Ertiga in India, the Verso comes with a trendy styling and most importantly a 2.0-litre D-4D engine. Considering the popularity of such MPVs in India, Toyota may bring it down here.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – A stretched Panamera with a plug-in hybrid engine technology which in pure electric mode can travel a claimed 30km but still hit the 0-100kmph mark in under six seconds.

McLaren P1 – Slated to go into production early next year, the P1 will sit above the 12C and 12C Spider both in terms of performance and price.

Peugeot 2008:  Derived from the Urban Crossover Concept which was showcased at the 2012 Beijing Show, the 2008 is a 208 hatchback with jacked up proportions. It will sport a tuned 110PS 3-cylinder 1.2-litre engine.

Kia Carens - The MPV will have a cab-forward design, longer wheelbase, lower roofline and bigger wheels than is the norm in the segment.  Kia also promises that the Carens will have a functional cabin with well laid out interiors and class leading space.

Audi S3 – Audi is getting a 300PS street legal version of A3 with an S tag to it. Available only with a petrol engine and mated to a standard 6-speed manual and optional S tronic transmission, the S3 will be one hot hatch to contend with.

Lexus LS 600h F Sport – Lexus will be showcasing a new concept car and the LS 600h F Sport. Chances are that these cars may come down to India considering that Lexus has plans for an Indian debut in 2013.
