New Hyundai Creta variants and features leaked

On July 21, 2015, Hyundai will launch the highly anticipated Creta which will take on the likes of tough competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra Scorpio and the Nissan Terrano. This five-seater is expected to come with three engine variants, a 1.6-litre petrol engine as well as 1.6-litre and 1.4-litre diesel engines. The six trims that will be available for the customers are Base (L), S (GL), S+, SX, SX+ and SX(O).

The Base (L) trim, a bare-bone variant will be available with the 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines and will possess the following features:

· 16-inch steel wheels with 205/65 R16 tyres
· 2-Din audio system with four speakers
· Dual-tone, body coloured bumpers
· Fabric upholstery

The S (GL) trim will also come with the option of the 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines and carries over the features of the previous trim along with these added features:

· 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls
· Front fog lamps and rear defogger
· A roof rack
· Map and luggage lamps
· Rear centre armrest with cupholders
· Steering mounted audio and bluetooth controls
· Electrically adjustable ORVM with side indicators

The S+ trim on the other hand will exclusively run the 1.4-litre diesel engine and will get the following features:

· Dual airbags
· Impact-sensing auto door unlock
· Rear parking camera with guidelines and sensors
· Audio-video navigation
· 16-inch alloy wheels and a steel spare wheel
· Electrically foldable ORVM

The SX trim will be available with the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines and loses out on the parking sensors but will include the following additional features:

· Climate control with cluster ioniser
· Silver and chrome front grille
· Projector headlamps
· LED positioning lamps
· Rear wiper and washer

The SX+ trim, like the previous trim, will get the 1.6-litre engines and rear parking sensors. Quite surprisingly only the diesel engine is available with an automatic transmission. In addition to that, the Creta in the SX+ trim will have a push-button ignition and 60:40 rear split seats in the automatic variant.

Finally, the top of the line SX(O) trim will exclusively run the 1.6-litre diesel motor and will come with the following features over the other trims:
· 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with 215/60 R17 tyres
· Side and curtain airbags
· Electronic stability and hill assist controls
· Leather upholstery
· 7-inch touchscreen
· Supervision cluster
· Chrome door handles

Hyundai gets a thumbs up from us for ensuring that a lot of essential features such as dual airbags, rear defogger, steering mounted controls are available right from the lower trims. By doing so, they entitle customers to safer and better equipped cars without them having to shell out a lot of money. With its long list of features, it would be interesting to see how the new Hyundai Creta stacks up against the competition.
