Dakar 2017: TVS Sherco's Juan Pedrero Garcia takes 4th place in Stage 5

With heavy rains washing out part of the tracks in the competitive section of Stage 5, the organisers were forced to cut short the 438km Special Stage at the 219km mark. The rain only complicated things for the competitors as it made the terrain tricky and the temperature lower.

TVS Sherco Racing's Juan Pedrero Garcia managed to finish the stage in 2hr31m31s to take 4th place. This pushed his overall ranking up from 31st to 25th. He is currently 2hr01m10s behind the current leader in the Bike category, Sam Sunderland. Garcia's team-mate, Adrien Metge, managed to finish the stage in 21st place, 33m44s behind Sunderland, who was the stage winner. Metge currently stands 46th in the overall standings, 3hr52m20s behind Sunderland.
