Booking for the Toyota Hilux stand temporarily closed due to excessive demand

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has stated that bookings for the Hilux would be temporarily closed. The decision was made owing to excessive demand and many reasons hurting supply at the same time, according to the business.

The India-specific version of The Toyota Hilux was unveiled last month, ahead of its arrival in March 2022, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly after. A 2.8-litre diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission will power the vehicle. The engine generates 204PS and 420Nm of torque and 500 Nm with the automatic gearbox.

The double-cab Toyota Hilux being introduced in India is 5,325mm long, 1,855 wide and 1,815 tall. The pick-up can carry up to 1,015 kg in its load bay in this body style and has a laden ground clearance of 217mm. The Hilux sits on 265/60 R18 alloy wheels and gets disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. A notable difference from the Fortuner is that the Hilux sits on a rigid rear axle with leaf-spring suspension for its more heavy-duty applications, unlike the multi-link set-up in the Fortuner. The Hilux has a 700mm wading depth, 29-degree approach and 26-degree departure angle.

The Toyota Hilux gets a unique dashboard design but shares most of its interior features with the Fortuner. Highlights here include soft-touch dash materials as well as leather upholstery along with dual-zone climate control, 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple Carplay with 6 speakers, connected car tech - Geo-Fencing, Realtime Vehicle Tracking, Walk to Car etc. and all-round LED lighting.

The Hilux has a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating with features that include seven airbags, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, anti-theft alarm, whiplash protection front seats, ISOFIX child seat mounts and ABS.

The Toyota Hilux will be available in two variants in 2022: Standard and High. Emotional Red, White Pearl Shine, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, and Super White are among the five colours offered for the vehicle.
