BMW iX1: Powertrain

Internationally, the iX1 is available in two variants: eDrive20 and xDrive30, both with a 64.7kWh battery pack. The former has a front-wheel drive single motor arrangement that produces 204PS and 250Nm, while the latter has a twin motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces 313PS and 494Nm.

We expect the AWD configuration of the iX1 to come to India as it has a WLTP-claimed range of up to 440km. BMW has stated that the car can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds.

BMW iX1: Design

In terms of general design, the iX1 resembles the X1. It sports a tall fascia with a large closed-off grille, narrow LED headlights that house the LED DRLs, and a large bumper with chrome elements. Its shape is very identical to the ordinary X1, but for the blue insert on the side skirts, and it comes with the same alloy wheel options. A spoiler, L-shaped tail lights, and a large bumper with a skid plate are added to the back.

BMW iX1: Interior

A 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone temperature control, and electrically adjustable front seats with memory and massage function are standard on the worldwide model. There are also several airbags, a rear parking camera, park assist, and driver assistance features such as cruise control with brake function and front-collision warning.

BMW plans to debut the iX1 in India by October of this year, with prices starting at Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). The iX1 will compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the recently unveiled C40 Recharge when it is released.
