BMW iX1 launched in India, priced at Rs 66.90 lakh
BMW India has decided it extend this EV portfolio in India and has launched the iX1 SUV at a cost of Rs 66.90 lakh. The SUV is now available in India as a CBU and in one single xDrive30 M Sport trim. Interested customers can book the vehicle via BMW India's online portal and deliveries are set to commence from October.
The iX1 is based on the X1 itself, and BMW now claims that its bestselling luxury SUV is now the first in its segment to offer an electric avatar in addition to the petrol and diesel drivetrains.
BMW iX1: Design
The enormous kidney grille flanked by the LED headlights with two-piece LED DRLs, the sharp creases, and the bumper design and style all seem the same as on the X1. The M Sport option adds the 'M' emblem to the front fender, and the rear bumper, like the front bumper, is painted in high gloss black.
The SUV has adaptive suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels. It comes in four monochromatic colours: Alpine White, Space Silver, Black Sapphire, and Storm Bay.
BMW iX1: Powertrain and Charging
A 66.4kWh battery pack powers the new electric SUV, allowing the two motors positioned on each axle to deliver 313PS and 494Nm of peak torque with a WLTP-claimed range of up to 440km. It accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 180kmph.
Using a 130kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 29 minutes. The 11kW AC charger, on the other hand, charges the battery from 0 to 100 percent in little over 6 hours.
BMW iX1: Interior and Features
Inside, the interior resembles the X1. Hence there is a single-piece panel housing a 10.25-inch driver display and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The air vents have metallic rims, and similar silver or metallic trim pieces may be seen throughout the interior.
The iX1 offers two-zone temperature control, wireless phone charging, electrically adjustable front seats with memory and massage functions, a Harmon Kardon sound system with 12 speakers, six ambient lighting modes, a panoramic sunroof, and an automated tailgate.
Its safety features include ABS with Brake Assist, numerous airbags for the driver and passengers, electronic stability control, and modern driver aid systems.
The BMW iX1 is now the fourth EV offering from BMW India and is the most affordable of the lot. It will take on the likes of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge as well as the Mercedes-Benz EQB.
