New Maruti Suzuki Swift launched in India at Rs 6.49 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation Swift in India. The new hatchback has been priced from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in a choice of five variants, namely LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ across various paint schemes. The top-spec ZXi+ also comes with dual-tone colour options. That being said, Maruti has already started bookings for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Design & Interior

The newest Maruti Suzuki Swift is identical to the model available in the international markets. However, the India-spec model gets a few subtle cosmetic changes. It comes with LED projector headlamps, boomerang-patterned daytime driving lights, C-shaped taillamps, a large octagonal-shaped grille, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Overall, the new Swift looks sportier compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, Maruti now offers two new colours: Luster Blue and Novel Orange. Customers can personalise their new Swift with two optional accessory packs: Thrill chaser and Racing Roadster.

Inside, it has a new interior layout which also appears familiar. There is a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+, an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB Type-C charging ports, Arkamys sound system, wireless charging pad, Suzuki connect with over 40 features, cruise control, hill hold assist, six airbags, and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Engine

The next-gen Swift comes powered by a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z12E petrol engine producing 81.58PS at 5,700rpm and 111.7Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. This motor is coupled to a five-speed manual and an AMT. This engine claimed to be 14 per cent more economical over its predecessor, providing a mileage of 25.75kmpl.

The previous was powered by a 1.2-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that made 90PS and 113Nm of torque. This motor was mated to a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT transmission. Meanwhile, the Maruti Swift takes on the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tigor.
