2024 MINI Cooper EV to offer 380+km range

MINI, the iconic British marque, is all set to reveal the new generation Cooper EV in the summer 2024. This all-new three-door hatchback will be available in both ICE and electric versions. The latter will offer more potent electric motors, larger battery packs, and significantly more range than the current model.

As reported by Autocar UK, the second generation MINI Cooper EV will be offered with a choice of two battery packs: a 40kWh in the entry-level E trim and a 54kWh in the top-spec SE trim. With this, the range will start at about 380km (240 miles). Moreover, the power output of the standard variant will be rated at 184PS, while the range-topping SE will generate 218PS. Notably, MINI will offer them only a two-wheel drive option.

Further, the all-new Cooper EV will be manufactured in China. It will use a new Spotlight EV platform created together with Great Wall Motors. As a result, MINI's new Cooper EV will benefit from a longer wheelbase.

In terms of design, the new-gen Cooper EV will bear a fresh face with new daytime driving lights and LED headlights reminiscent of the Aceman EV. While the Cooper EV will be available in a three-door version, the ICE model will be offered with five-door and convertible options. Interestingly, MINI recently revealed a limited-run production convertible model of the on-sale Cooper SE. The brand will only make 999 units of this drop-top EV worldwide.

MINI is also planning a high-performance JCW version of the upcoming Cooper EV. This sporty EV will arrive in mid-2025. It will focus on power rather than range and is expected to have a power output north of 253PS.

Meanwhile, MINI will introduce the Countryman EV sometime in early 2024. It will also be offered as an ICE option. Following the Countryman EV, the firm will launch the Cooper EV and ICE in May and July 2024, respectively. Last but not least, the Aceman EV is set to make its debut at the beginning of 2025.
