2022 Tata Safari Dark Edition launched in India, prices start from Rs 19.05 lakh

Tata Motors has now expanded its Dark line of models to include the Tata Safari. As with the other Dark models, the Tata Safari Dark Edition comes with a fully blacked-out look on the inside and out. Bookings for the Safari Dark Edition have begun online and at Tata Motors dealerships.

Tata Safari Dark Edition exterior changes

This variant of the Tata Safari is finished in the Oberon Black exterior body colour as seen on other Tata Motors' Dark offerings. The chrome highlights on the outside have also been replaced with black panels like on the grille and the roof element while the 18-inch alloy wheels are also finished in black. The fender badges unique to these models also appear here.

Tata Safari Dark Edition interior changes, new features, safety

On the inside, the Tata Safari Dark edition continues with a black and grey theme. the dashboard now gets a textured grey fascia while the off-white trim and upholstery has been replaced to a darker shade. The door panelling has been turned black while the leather seat upholstery is finished in black with blue highlights.

The Dark Edition also comes with a few more features which first debuted on the Gold edition. So the Tata Safari now gets first and second row ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay and an air purifier. Other features of note on the Tata Safari are the iRA suite of connected-car tech, mood lighting, TPMS and an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function. Carried over from the Harrier are the large panoramic sunroof, the 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 9-speaker JBL audio, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, auto headlamps and wipers, climate control, six-way powered driver's seats, tilt and telescopic steering, cruise control and a reverse parking camera.

Safety features include 6 airbags, the new added rear disc brakes, auto-dimming IRVMS, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, corner function foglamps, hill-hold, hill-descent control, corner-function fog lamps and a rear-view camera.

Tata Safari Dark Edition engine, specifications

The new Safari Dark Edition remains mechanically unchanged from the standard SUV. The same 2.0-litre FCA-sourced Multijet diesel engine from the Tata Harrier, which Tata calls Kryotec, is fitted to the Safari with 172PS and 350Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox . Also, the traction-based drive and off-road modes that the Harrier first introduced to the Indian market have been carried over here too.

Tata Safari Dark Edition prices

The Tata Safari Dark Edition is available with the top XT+/XTA+ and XZ+/XZA+ variants of the three-row SUV. Prices start from Rs 19.05 lakh, at a Rs 26,000 premium over the standard Safari.
