2021 Range Rover Velar launched in India at Rs 79.87 lakh, adds diesel option

Land Rover updated the Range Rover Velar last year in the global markets with new tech and plug-in hybrid powertrains. In India, Land Rover is offering the Velar with new Ingenium diesel and petrol powertrains with standard all-wheel-drive. Both the engine options for the Range Rover Velar are priced at Rs 79.87 lakh (ex-showroom) and come in a single R-Dynamic S trim that can be further specced with air suspension, 3D surround-view camera and PM 2.5 cabin air filter.

On the exterior front, the new Velar is identical to the earlier model with the only change being the updated alloy wheels. Being the R-Dynamic trim, we get to see some bronze inserts on the bumpers, fenders and bonnet. The key features like flush-fitting door handles and tapering roofline help the Velar stand out on the roads. On the inside, the new Velar gets a new steering wheel with capacitive controls and JLR's new and advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system. The rotary pop-out gear controller is now replaced with a leather-wrapped stubby gear lever. Land Rover has also offered active noise cancellation with the Velar for exceptional NVH levels.

The 2021 Range Rover Velar is offered with 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol and diesel engine options. The updated 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine coupled with MHEV dishes out 204PS and 430 Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol churns out 250PS and 365 Nm of torque. Both the engine options come mated to an 8-speed auto and standard AWD. Range Rover Velar shares its powertrain and underpinnings with the Jaguar F-Pace which also got a refresh in India and is priced at Rs 69.9 lakh ex-showroom.
