2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross BSVI petrol bookings open ahead of August 5 launch

Maruti Suzuki has started accepting bookings for the BSVI-compliant petrol version of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. This SUV is sold through the Nexa sales channel and buyers can book the S-Cross petrol for Rs 11,000 via the Nexa website or at dealerships. The S-Cross will launch in India on August 5.

Given Maruti Suzuki's move to a petrol-only line-up in the BSVI-era, the S-Cross will now be available with the 1.5-litre K15B petrol motor. This 1.5-litre unit is the same as the one on the facelifted Vitara Brezza, Ertiga XL6 and Ciaz, putting out 105PS and 138Nm torque. Aside from a five-speed manual, a four-speed automatic will also be offered for the first time in the S-Cross. Like with the Brezza, only the automatic will bet Maruti Suzuki's mild-hybrid tech to go with it, presumably for cost considerations.

Thi petrol motor replaces the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet diesel that the S-Cross came with earlier. That motor make 90PS and 200 Nm and was available with a simpler mild-hybrid setup. The S-Cross is not likely to get any visual updates with the change and the should continue to be available in the four trim it came in earlier. The auto will most likely to be reserved for the top two trims. We expect prices of the updated Maruti Suzuki S-Cross to start from Rs 8 lakh for the base trim.
