2019 Yamaha MT-15: India spec Vs International spec
The Yamaha MT-15 was launched in the international market last year and earlier this week, the motorcycle was spotted at a dealership in India ahead of its official debut next month on March 15, 2019. Dealers had already started accepting bookings for the upcoming naked motorcycle unofficially for an amount of Rs 5,000.
The Yamaha MT-15 is essentially the naked version of the already popular Yamaha YZF-R15 V3. The MT-15 shares most of the cycle parts with the R15 V3 although misses out on the aluminium swingarm that is offered in the Supersport. The bike is equipped with a box type swingarm and gets conventional telescopic fork setup for suspension setup in the front, while the international spec motorcycle is equipped with USD (upside down) forks.
Esthetically the India spec MT-15 will be the same as the international model however it will have some tweaks which are mandatory for a manufacturer be made before selling a motorcycle in India. The India spec Yamaha MT-15 will be equipped with a saree guard. The bike spotted at the dealership had a rear splatter guard as opposed to a fully exposed rear wheel on the international bike.
The India spec bike is most likely to get the alloy wheel design borrowed from the R15 V3 and shod with MRF tyres as seen on the bike spotted at the dealers. The international spec Yamaha MT-15 is equipped with IRC tyres and has a different design for the alloy wheels.
We expect the 2019 Yamaha MT-15 to be priced close to Rs 1.20 lakh mark, ex-showroom. Post the launch of the Japanese street naked motorcycle the KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
