2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show: Renault Duster Extreme and Kwid Outsider concepts showcased

The Sao Paulo Motor Show is turning out to be quite an attraction, especially considering the showcased models related to India. Earlier we reported about the Hyundai Creta facelift, and now Renault has unveiled two distinct concepts. The Renault Duster Extreme concept gets an enthusiastic off-road treatment, while the Kwid Outsider offers a more rugged design compared to the stock form.

Designed by the Renault Design Latin America team based in Brazil, the Renault Duster Extreme concept features a more off-road focussed design. The front profile might look similar to the regular version, but it comes with high-intensity LED headlights. The front bumper gets a beefier update and houses a winch for the uncalled occasions of being stuck in nowhere. Then there is the snorkel, bash plates and roof rails which lend the muscular touch. However, the more convincing bit is the higher ground clearance and the all-terrain large wheels. The interior gets the same cabin layout and design as the regular version, but gets a new black-red colour scheme along with 'Extreme' and 4WD badging on the dashboard and the steering wheel.

Powering the Duster Extreme concept is a 2.0-litre engine. This flex-fuel motor puts out 143PS of power and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The cabin also displays a 5-speed manual transmission.

Coming to the Renault Kwid Outsider, the hatchback has now been tweaked with additional bits. There is a new copper gold shade which is also shared with the Duster SUV. The front bumper has got a minor revision in terms of design, and the fog lamp housing gets a green accent. The same can be seen on the roof-rails, side cladding and on the wheels. While Renault has not disclosed any official numbers, from the images it can be seen that the Kwid Outsider features bigger wheels and a sporty alloys. Similar to the Duster Extreme, the Kwid Outsider too has been designed by the RADL team.

The cabin design gets a more zesty appeal with an analogue instrument cluster instead of the digital unit seen on the Indian-spec model. Additionally, there are bright yellow accents on the steering wheel, around the central infotainment, air-conditioner vents, door handles and also on the gear knob.

This is not the first time that Renault has showcased a concept based on the Kwid hatchback. The French car manufacturer had unveiled the Kwid Climber and the Kwid Racer concepts at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Kwid Outsider too is based on the same Renault-Nissan's CMF-A platform as the regular hatchback.
