2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport will be a seven-seater

Looks like the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept showcased at the New York Auto Show was just a precursor to the 2015 Discovery Sport. Land Rover has recently released images of mules of the new Discovery Sport with a rather telling camouflage - a peel-off effect on the wraps teases a third row of seats. We are sure that third row flips forward to liberate enough room to accommodate luggage, picnic baskets and basically anything that catches the fancy of whimsical Land Rover owners.

According to Land Rover, the prototypes have left the Halewood manufacturing plant for their final testing phase. The new Discovery Sport will be showcased at this year's Paris Motor Show and will be sold alongside the existing Discovery. The compact SUV is expected to take on the Audi Q5 and Volvo XC90.

Apart from the revealing wraps, there are some technological details that JLR has released about the Discovery Sport - functions like remote control via a smartphone with a display that projects on the vehicle's hood showing terrain beneath it.

"As you would expect from a Discovery, the versatile Discovery Sport will feature 5+2 seating in the UK, offering spacious load space and configurable seating, while still retaining a more compact footprint than traditional 5-seat SUVs," says Gerry McGovern, design director and chief creative officer for Land Rover.

Land Rover Discovery 7-seater press release
Land Rover has dropped the biggest hint yet towards the design of Discovery Sport, with the debut of a new camouflage wrap confirming that the new compact SUV arrives as standard with 5+2 seating in the UK. As if 'peeling back' the outer layer of the vehicle, the camouflage reveals that the Discovery Sport will in fact have two seats in the third row, enhancing its versatility and appeal as a compact, family SUV. Prototype cars sporting the new camouflage design left Halewood, UK, where the Discovery Sport will be manufactured, to embark on final testing and development activity across several continents. "As you would expect from a Discovery, the versatile Discovery Sport will feature 5+2 seating in the UK, offering spacious load space and configurable seating, while still retaining a more compact footprint than traditional 5-seat SUVs," said Gerry McGovern, Design Director and Chief Creative Officer for Land Rover. The New Discovery Sport compact SUV will go on sale complementing the existing Discovery in 2015.
