Benelli TRK502 and TRK502X | First look review
The first of the new Benellis go on sale in India with the opening of the pre-bookings for the TRK502 and the TRK502X adventure tourers. The bikes are built on the same frames but the specification - suspension and wheels - are different to accommodate the road-focussed 502 and the off-road capable 502X models' roles. The Benelli TRK502 and TRK502X are powered by the 47.5PS 500cc 8v DOHC parallel twin that Benelli now uses to power other models including the 502C naked, the Leoncino and more. The engine is slotted into a steel trellis frame with a braced tubular steel swingarm. Suspension is 50mm upside-down forks, and a preload and rebound adjustable rear monoshock. While the travel isn't specified, the TRK502X is likely to have more suspension travel than the 502. In the known spec, the TRK502X has a 40mm higher seat height and 30mm higher ground clearance. The TRK502X also uses a 19-inch front wheel versus a 17-inch front wheel on the Benelli TRK502. The TRK502X uses spoked rims with Metzeler Tourance on-off road style tyres while the TRK502 uses17-inch alloy rims. All this is wrapped up in styling that reminds you of a sleek BMW GS. These are large motorcycles in the flesh and while the weight is undisclosed at the moment, the 235kg (kerb) weight being talked of on the Internet suggests a heavy motorcycle for its displacement class. Benelli India has opened bookings on February 18, 2019 for Rs 10,000. Online booking at india.benelli.com is the only way to book the bike and these customers will receive a Rs 10,000 voucher for accessories etc. Online bookings will remain open for approximately one month. Prices? Rs 5 lakh ex-showroom for the TRK502 and Rs 5.4 lakh ex-showroom for the TRK502X. We expect an upward price revision once online bookings close. Deliveries are expected to start by mid-April, 2019
