Urban-themed 2022 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition launched at Rs 1.26 crore
Jaguar Land Rover India has begun accepting bookings for the 2022 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition. Prices for the luxury SUV have also been announced at Rs 1.26 crore. The Discovery Metropolitan edition is based on the sportier R-Dynamic exterior package but is specced with more features and carries a more road-focused aesthetic. This follows the launch of the facelifted Land Rover Discovery in India last year.
2022 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition exterior
The new special edition Land Rover Discovery gets the sportier bumpers from the R-Dynamic variants but carries a contrasting chrome and grey theme. This is seen with the chrome Bright Atlas detailing for the grille and badges while there are silver bumper inserts and dual-tone grey and silver design for the 20-inch alloy wheels. A set of black brake callipers round off the exterior differences.

The 2022 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition is based on the top-spec HSE R-Dynamic variant but adds more features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging with phone signal booster, front cooler compartment, four-zone climate control, PM 2.5 air filter, heated and cooled rear seats, powered seat recline and heated steering wheel. There is also a new titanium mesh dark-themed colour pallete in the cabin. Carried over from the standard Discovery HSE are features like matrix LED lighting, panoramic sunroof, 20-way powered heated and cooled front seats, 11.4-inch touchscreen, 14-speaker Meridian audio, 3D cameras and eight airbags.
2022 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition engines, specifications
The Discovery Metropolitan edition is powered a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol and a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel. The D300 mild-hybrid diesel makes 300PS and 650 Nm and can 0 to 100 kmph in 6.8s to reach a 206 kmph top speed. The P360 petrol makes 360PS and 500 Nm, good for a 0 to 100 kmph time of 6.5s and a 209 kmph top-speed. The 300PS base 2.0-litre petrol engine isn't available with this version. Both engines pair with an 8-speed F gearbox and sit on air suspension while off-road features include AWD, terrain response and wade sensing.
2022 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition price, rivals
The Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan edition is priced at Rs 1.26 crore, while the rest of the Discovery range starts from Rs 88 lakh for the base P300. The three-row Discovery competes with both five and six-seater rivals like the BMW X5 and X7, Mercedes GLE and GLS and Audi Q7 and Q8.
