TVS Orbiter V1 has been launched with a smaller battery pack and a lower price tag, it now becomes the most budget-friendly EV in the brand's electric scooter range.

- Powered by 1.8kWh battery pack
- 0-80 per cent charge in 2 hours and 20 minutes

The Orbiter V1 uses a 1.8kWh battery pack, which offers an IDC range of 86 km on a full charge. In comparison, the earlier model now renamed the TVS Orbiter V2 comes with a larger 3.1 kWh battery that delivers a longer 158 km range.

Because the new model has a smaller battery, charging times are also quicker. The Orbiter V1 can charge from 0 to 80 percent in about 2 hours and 20 minutes, while the larger battery on the Orbiter V2 takes around 4 hours and 10 minutes to reach the same level.

Apart from the battery and range difference, most features remain the same as the V2. The scooter continues to get 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheels, along with an LCD instrument cluster that connects to a mobile app. Through the app, riders can access turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air updates and safety alerts such as anti-theft warnings, crash alerts and geo-fencing notifications.

The scooter also includes Eco and Power riding modes, hill-hold assist, parking assist with reverse function and cruise control. Practicality remains unchanged as well, with an 845 mm long flat seat and 34 litres of under-seat storage.

Alongside the new variant, TVS has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option across its electric scooter lineup. With this system, buyers can purchase the scooter without paying the full battery cost upfront and instead subscribe to the battery through a monthly plan. Prices for the BaaS subscription start at Rs 862 per month, with plans available for 24, 36 or 60 months.

Unlike some battery subscription plans that limit how far you can ride, TVS says there is no restriction on distance, regardless of the plan you choose. Buyers who opt for the BaaS model also receive a 5-year / 70,000km extended warranty.

The TVS Orbiter V1 is priced at Rs 84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi), including the benefits from the PM e?Drive subsidy. However, if customers choose the BaaS option, the starting price drops to Rs 49,999. This makes it roughly Rs 15,000 cheaper than the Orbiter V2, which is priced at Rs 99,900.
