Toyota announces voluntary recall of 1,190,00 Avalons in the US
Looks like GM is not the only one recalling its vehicles in US. Japanese auto maker Toyota has also issued a voluntary recall in the US for its Avalon sedans belonging to model year (MY) 2003-2004. This new recall comes after a massive voluntary recall it announced in the month of February for a software update to its 1.9 million Prius models worldwide.

The latest announcement involves a problem with the circuits of the airbag control module belonging to the aforementioned Avalon models. The company says that the circuits can be damaged when exposed to electrical noise from electrical devices, which may lead to faulty deployment of the seat belt pre-tensioners or the front airbags.

Owners of the vehicles pertaining to these recalls will be informed through priority mail and the dealers will rectify the problem by fitting an electrical noise filter to the airbag control module thus preventing the accidental deployment.
Toyota Announces Voluntary Safety Recall
| TORRANCE, Calif., March 27, 2014 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 119,000 MY 2003-2004 Avalon sedans. In the involved Toyota Avalon vehicles, certain circuits within the airbag control module may be susceptible to damage if exposed to electrical noise from other electrical components. In some instances, front airbag(s) and/or seat belt pre-tensioners could inadvertently deploy. Dealers will remedy the condition by adding an electrical noise filter to the airbag control module. Owners of vehicles subject to these recalls will receive a notification by first class mail.
