Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts secure highest GNCAP safety rating to date

While Tata Motors has finally launched the Safari and Harrier in India, the big news is that both the updated SUVs have received a five-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult and child occupants. In fact, the Safari and Harrier facelifts have secured the highest score in Global NCAP adult and child passengers crash testing to date. Meanwhile, the prices of the Safari facelift start at Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 25.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas, the Harrier facelift prices start from Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the SUV duo were opened earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift GNCAP crash test rating

As mentioned earlier, the refreshed Safari and Harrier have achieved a five-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. But what is more important is that the SUVs have secured 33.05 points out of a maximum 34.00 points, while 45.00 points out of a maximum 49.00 points for adult occupants protection and child passengers protection, respectively. These are the highest safety points any made-in-India vehicle has ever received under the GNCAP's "safercarsforIndia" programme.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift: Safety features

The carmaker has equipped both the Safari and Harrier facelift with a range of safety features as standard across all variants. Thus, they come with six airbags, ISOFIX, four-wheel disc brakes, hill hold control, electronic stability programme, traction control, roll over mitigation, corner stability control, ABS with EBD, and three-point seatbelt with reminders for all seats. The TPMS, a knee airbag, advanced ESP with driver doze off alert, hill descent control, and upgraded ADAS with 11 features are avaible in higher- and top-spec variants of the SUVs.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift: Colours and variants

The Harrier facelift is offered in four variants, namely Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Fearless, and the updated Safari comes in four variants: Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished.

The former is available in seven colour options: Pebble Grey, Coral Red, Sunlit Yellow, Lunar White, Oberon Black, Ash Grey, and Seaweed Green, along with the Dark Edition. Whereas, the latter can be had in Cosmic Gold, Galactic Sapphire, Stardust Ash, Stellar Frost, Oberon Black, Supernova Copper, and Lunar Slate paint schemes, inclduing the Dark Edition.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelift: Powertrain

Powering the Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts is the 2-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual or a six-speed shift-by-wire automatic transmission. It produces 170PS and 350Nm of torque.
