SAIC Motors and Audi to develop EVs together
China's largest automaker, SAIC Motor, announced that it has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with German automaker Audi to collaborate on developing intelligent and electric vehicles.
According to the agreement, both parties will use their respective advantages and capabilities to accelerate Audi's development of new electric cars in order to fulfil Chinese customers' desire for premium connected electric vehicles. SAIC Motor will leverage its own technological advantages to build new products with Audi.
SAIC Motor introduced its unique development plan in electrification, intelligent connectivity, sharing, and globalization in 2014. It is a pioneer in the creation of creative new energy vehicles and intelligent driving cars, cultivating new growth drivers via innovation and transformation.
SAIC also owns British automaker MG Motor, which sells the Gloster, Hector, Astor, and ZS EV SUVs in India.
Based on their successful collaboration and respective capabilities in breakthrough technologies, SAIC Motor and Audi will aggressively increase the depth and breadth of their collaboration to rapidly and effectively introduce next-generation electric car models and reach new market areas.
