Royal Enfield shows off electric Himalayan concept at EICMA 2023

At the EICMA 2023, Royal Enfield showcased the new Himalayan 450 along with the brand's first-ever electric motorcycle concept, the electric Himalayan test bed. For thi, RE has developed a battery box that serves as the main structural element and also uses new materials, such as organic flax fibre composite. The electric Royal Enfield has also undergone wind tunnel testing to improve efficiency.

Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer- EV of Royal Enfield, briefed about the all-electric Himalayan concept. Talking about the first-ever electric Royal Enfield concept, Mr Alvisi said that this is much more than just a concept design, this is a full laboratory, this is our vision for the future. He also stated that there will be a lot of new concepts are in the pipeline and they will be unveiled in the coming months.

Like the new Himalayan 450 was born in the Himalayas, the electric Himalayan is also being tested in the Himalayas to assess RE's new electric powertrain technology, which the brand intends to bring to its future electric motorcycles.

Alongside the public debut of the new Himalayan 450 and the electric Himalayan test bed, Royal Enfield also laid out its plans to create a sustainable electric mobility and an ecosystem.

Royal Enfield has created pit stops for riders and travellers in the Himalayas to provide clean drinking water and a sanitation system. Notably, all pit stops utilise green energy. It is also working with the riding community and explorers to keep the Himalayas clean and also reduce dependency on single-use plastic. In addition, Royal Enfield has patterned up with UNESCO with an aim to protect historical buildings and properties in the Himalayas.
