Almost four years after its global debut, Tesla has commenced deliveries of its Cybertruck to its customers. It will be available in three trim options: Cyberbeast, All-wheel-drive, and Rear-wheel-drive. The long-delayed pickup will be offered with prices starting at $60,990 for the rear-wheel-drive version, which will be available in 2025. The Cyberbeast and all-wheel-drive versions cost $99,990 and $79,990, respectively, with deliveries scheduled in 2024. Notably, the new starting price of the Cybertruck is over 50 per cent than what CEO Elon Musk had touted at its first public debut in 2019 as it was originally estimated to cost between $39,000 and $ 69,900. Here, we shed some light on the powertrain and other specifications of the pickup.

Tesla Cybertruck: Powertrain, Range, and Specs

Tesla will offer the Cybertruck in three drivetrain options, starting from rear-wheel drive, all-wheel-drive with dual-motor setup, and range-topping all-wheel drive with tri-motor system. The cheapest rear-wheel-drive version offers an estimated range of about 402km (250 miles) while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive can give out a range of 547km (340 miles) or 756km (470 miles) with a range extender. The RWD and AWD can go from zero to 96kmph (60mph) in 6.5 seconds and 4.1 seconds, respectively. Top speed for both is rated at 180kmph (112mph). While the power output details about RWD are not available at the moment, the dual motor AWD produces 608 PS and 10,080Nm of torque.

The range-topping Cyberbeast with three electric motor setup generates 857PS and 13,959Nm of torque. With this, it is claimed to achieve 96kmph (60mph) in just 2.6 seconds and provide a top speed of 209kmph (130mph). The estimated range of this version stands at 515km (320 miles) or 708km (440 miles) with a range extender. To put it simply, the range extender as quoted by Tesla is an additional battery pack sits in the pickup's bed to boost its range.

Meanwhile, the higher trims support 250kW ultra-fast charging. Besides that, the payload capacity of the pickup is 1,134kg (2,500 lbs), whereas towing capacity is rated at 3,402 (7,500 lbs) for RWD version and 4,990kg (11,000 lbs) for both AWD models.

Tesla Cybertruck: Highlights

Apart from that, the Cybertruck retains its overall design language and its minimalist cabin features a large 18.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 9.4-inch touchscreen in the rear, and a 15-speaker sound system with two sub-woofers. One can charge electronic appliances or even another EV using Cybertruck's 120V and 240V power outlets. Not to mention, pickup can also supply power to your home at 11.5kW during a power outage.
