New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 launched; prices start at Rs 2.69 lakh
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). The adventure motorcycle is available in a choice of three variants, namely Base, Pass, and Summit. Alongside the Indian market, the Himalayan 450 has also gone on sale in the UK and Europe with prices starting from £5,750 and 5,900, respectively. For India, the introductory prices are valid until 31 December, 2023. It is also to be noted that the bookings for the motorcycle are now open in the country.
New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Pricing
The new Himalayan 450 comes in a variety of paint options. Priced at Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the Base variant is offered with Kaza Brown shade , whereas the Pass is available with two paint schemes: Slate Poppy Blue and Slate Himalayan Salt and come with a price tag of Rs 2.74 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the top-spec Himalayan 450 is available in Kamet White and Hanle Black. These colour schemes cost Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 2.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Features and specifications
Royal Enfield has equipped the new Himalayan 450 with numerous features, including a ride-by-wire system, all-LED lighting, a Bluetooth-enabled four-inch colour TFT display, dual-channel and switchable ABS, a USB Type-C port, three ride modes, and slip-and-assist clutch.
Further, the motorcycle boasts 43mm Showa upside-down front forks, a linkage-type rear monoshock. Notably, both setups offer 200mm wheel travel. In addition, it is fitted with a 320mm single front disc with a dual piston calliper, a 270mm rear disc with a single piston calliper, a 90/90 21 section front tyre, and 140/80 R17 section rear tyre.
Meanwhile, the kerb weight of the new Himalayan 450 is rated at 196kg (90 per cent fuel and oil). It has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. Not to mention, the ground clearance stands at 230mm.
New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Engine, power ouput, and gearbox
The new Himalayan 450 gets a new engine, dubbed "Sherpa 450". It is 451.65cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC unit paired with a six-speed gearbox and produces 40.02PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Its rivals, such as the KTM 390 Adventure generates 43.5PS at 9,000rpm and 37Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, while the BMW G 310 GS makes 34PS at 9,250rpm and 28Nm at 7,500rpm.
