New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 global debut tomorrow
The all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is all-set to make its global debut tomorrow, on 7 November, 2023. The new Himalayan 450 has been one of the most-awaited motorcycles of this year. It brings a new liquid-cooled engine for a Royal Enfield motorcycle for the first time and a host of electronics, keeping it up-to-the-minute with its rivals. Here is everything you should know about the upcoming new Himalayan 450.
New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Design, colours, and variants
The new Himalayan appears larger and more muscular than its predecessor. It gets a bigger and sculpted fuel tank, split seat arrangement, a circular headlamp, a high-set front fender, metal frame, taillights integrated into the rear indicators, a small windscreen, round mirrors, and wire spoke wheels. Further, Royal Enfield will offer the new Himalayan in three variants: Base, Pass, and Summit across five paint jobs, namely Kaza Brown, Slate Poppy Blue, Slate Himalayan Salt, Kamet White, and Hanle Black.

The brand has equipped the upcoming Himalayan 450 with a four-inch colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire, dual-channel and switchable ABS, slip-and-assist clutch, three ride modes, Google Maps support, and a USB Type-C port.
The ADV also comes with 43mm Showa upside-down front forks, a linkage-type rear monoshock, a 320mm front disc with a dual piston calliper, a 270mm rear disc with a single piston calliper, a 90/90 21 section front tyre, and a 140/80 R17 section rear tyre from CEAT. Additionally, the new Himalayan 450 weighs 196kg (kerb weight with 90 per cent fuel and oil) has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. Its ground clearance stands at 230mm with 200mm wheel travel at both ends.
New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Engine, power outputs, and gearbox
The new Himalayan comes powered by a 451.65cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine, dubbed "Sherpa 450". This motor produces 40.02PS at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 40Nm at 5,500rpm. It is paired with a new six-speed gearbox. The KTM 390 Adventure, the direct rival of the new Himalayan 450, generates 43.5PS at 9,000rpm and 37Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, while the BMW G 310 GS produces 34PS at 9,250rpm and 28Nm at 7,500rpm.
New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Pricing and Competitors
The prices of the upcoming Himalayan could start from Rs 2.50 lakh. Once launched, the ADV will compete against the KTM 390 Adventure spoke wheels and 2024 BMW G 310 GS, that are priced at Rs 3.61 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
