Mercedes-AMG has launched the new E 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet in India at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). It is the fourth 53-badged AMG in India after the E 53, GLE 53 coupe, and EQS 53. Notably, the drop-top saloon is the automaker's first launch of 2023. Mercedes has also announced that it will launch 10 new vehicles this year.

Powering the E 53 Cabriolet is a 3.0-litre straight-six twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine married to AMG nine-speed TCT automatic transmission. It generates 435PS and 520Nm of torque. In addition, the engine is paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid assistance that provides a brief power boost of 22PS and 250Nm of torque. This performance soft-top saloon can sprint from zero to 100kmph in just 4.5 seconds and tops out at 250kmph.

Being an AMG, the E 53 Cabriolet features distinctive design elements in the form of a signature Panamericana-style radiator grille, AMG front and rear bumpers, quad exhaust tips, 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, rear diffuser, and boot-mounted spoiler. Along with various paint options, Mercedes-Benz offers four colours for the soft top: dark red, dark brown, dark blue, and black. Meanwhile, the roof can be opened in less than 20 seconds at speeds up to 50kmph.

Inside, the cabin also carries numerous AMG styling elements, such as a steering wheel. Additionally, it comes with a 12.3-inch driver display and a 12.3-inch central information hub with AMG-specific user interface; Nappa leather seats in three tones: black, black/classic red, and black/saddle brown; a 13-speaker, 590-watt Burmester sound system, vehicle noise cancellation, and a heads-up display.

The E 53 wears the 4Matic+ badge, which means it has a fully variable all-wheel drive system. Mercedes has also outfitted it with AMG Ride Control+. Other features include seven airbags, pre-safe, car-to-x, active distance and distronic, a pop-up rollbar, attention assist, active brake assist, drilled AMG disc brakes, and front and rear wind deflectors, among others.
