Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 Standard Range bookings open
Mercedes-Benz has announced a new entry-level variant of its upcoming electric sedan, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric. The new version, called the CLA 200 'Standard Range', will sit below the previously revealed CLA 250+ 'Long Range', giving buyers a more affordable option in the lineup.

- Bookings can be done with a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh
- Deliveries expected by end of April for the Long Range and new variant expected by June
- Powered by 85.5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an 800-volt electrical architecture
With the addition of the new model, the CLA Electric range will now consist of two variants: the CLA 250+ Long Range and the CLA 200 Standard Range. The company said the new variant has been introduced after taking customer feedback into account.
Bookings for both versions have already opened with a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. Customers who reserve the car in advance will also receive a complimentary wall-box home charger. Deliveries will begin in phases, with the CLA 250+ Long Range expected to reach customers by the end of April 2026. The CLA 200 Standard Range will start arriving slightly later, from June 2026.
Styling and features
The new CLA 200 Standard Range comes with the Progressive Line styling package, which focuses more on comfort and everyday usability. It includes comfort seats, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel and a choice of two interior trim options.
The CLA 250+ Long Range, on the other hand, gets the sportier AMG Line styling package. Despite these styling differences, most of the equipment and feature list is expected to remain similar between the two variants.

Performance and battery
The CLA 250+ Long Range is powered by an 85.5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an 800-volt electrical architecture. The setup produces 272 PS and allows the electric sedan to accelerate from 0100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. Mercedes-Benz claims a driving range of up to 792 km for this version.
Efficiency is a major highlight of the model, with the car featuring an aerodynamically optimised design and a drivetrain efficiency of about 93 percent. Energy consumption is rated at around 12 kWh per 100 km. The CLA 250+ also uses a two-speed transmission and supports DC fast charging of up to 240 kW, which can add nearly 400 km of range in about 20 minutes under ideal conditions.
The new CLA 200 Standard Range also uses the same 800-volt architecture but offers a claimed range of 542 km. When connected to a 240 kW DC fast charger, it can add roughly 320 km of driving range in around 20 minutes.
Expected pricing
Mercedes-Benz has indicated that the CLA 200 Standard Range could be priced at around Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). The CLA 250+ Long Range is expected to cost approximately Rs 59 lakh. The company has also stated that the final pricing may change depending on foreign exchange rates at the time of launch.
The official launch of the CLA Electric in India is scheduled for mid-April 2026.
