The Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM have entered a new generation, introducing a fresh and contemporary exterior and interior design, along with enhanced luxury features and a hybrid powertrain. While Toyota has already launched the new Vellfire in India, the debut of the new LM is anticipated to take place shortly. In this article, we conduct a comparison of these luxury MPVs to determine which one excels in various aspects.

Lexus LM vs Toyota Vellfire: Design

Although the new generation Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire share the same platform, called Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-K), there are both poles apart when it comes to the exterior design. The new Vellfire features a combination muscular and sporty design, whereas the new LM bears an elegant and sleek look. Both MPVs come with strong creases, chrome finished elements, and distinctive taillights. While the Vellfire features a large grille reminiscent of the new-gen Land Cruiser, the LM boasts the brand's signature spindle grille in a modern avatar.

Lexus LM vs Toyota Vellfire: Interior

The interior is the crux of these MPVs as it offers an aeroplane's first-class-like experience. But the LM has a plusher cabin, which is also brimmed with features, such as active noise cancellation, a 48-inch television, an adjustable partition with dimmable glass, a portable refrigerator, indirect and ambient lighting, and a 23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, among others. It comes with four- and seven-seat configurations with powered Ottomans seats being key highlights. The pair of seats alone come equipped with a raft of functions. On the other hand, the Vellfire is available with a 2+2+2 seating layout with Ottomans seats, high-grade leather upholstery, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a glass roof, electronically operated rear doors, and more.

Lexus LM vs Toyota Vellfire: Powertrain

Powering the LM and Vellfire is a 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a CVT automatic transmission. It is paired with a dual-motor setup (one at each axle) and a sizable battery pack. The total system output is rated at 250PS, while the engine makes 193PS.

Lexus LM vs Toyota Vellfire: Prices (ex-showroom)

The all-new Vellfire is available in two variants in India, namely Hi at Rs 1.20 crore and VIP-Executive Lounge at Rs 1.30 crore. However, Lexus has not introduced the new LM here yet. But we expect the more luxurious MPV to cost between 1.70 crore and 2.30 crore. In summary, the latest LM elevates luxury and advanced technology to a higher plane compared to the Vellfire. The Vellfire, in turn, has enhanced both its overall aesthetics and interior, stepping up its game.
