BMW, the renowned German luxury automaker, has unveiled the long wheelbase variants of the 5 Series and the all-electric i5 for the Chinese market. The 5 Series long wheelbase, with a distinctive design and impressive features, is currently exclusive to China.

While the 5 Series LWB possesses more or less the same attributes from the standard 5 Series, there are distinguishing elements that set the two models apart. The extended wheelbase version retains the illuminated kidney grille, now adorned with a new bronze frame. This unique bronze accent extends to the window frames, alloy wheels, and bumpers. Notably, the C-pillar or Hofmeister kink features an illuminated "5" emblem, which lights up in white for the 5 Series LWB and in serene blue for the all-electric i5.

Interior refinements make the long wheelbase 5 Series stand out as a chauffeur-driven saloon. Rear-seat comfort is a focal point, with a host of new features. The addition of the BMW Theater Screen is noteworthy â€" a 31.1-inch curved 8K touchscreen with 5G connectivity.

Other offerings include the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, four-zone temperature control, upgraded rear seats featuring leather upholstery and headrest cushions, and a fresh dual-tone theme. The signature BMW Curved Display setup, housing a driver display and central information hub, remains, alongside the crafted clarity glass controls and flat-bottomed steering wheel. Unique to this model, the door panels feature bronze insets.

While specific engine details for the China-specific 5 Series LWB are currently unavailable, it is expected to offer both petrol and diesel powertrain options. Similarly, the all-electric i5 might be available in its eDrive40 and M60 variants.
