It was yesterday Bajaj Auto launched the 2024 N250 in India at Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom) and now we have learned that the bike maker has already set the stage to introduce the biggest Pulsar ever, the NS400. The Pulsar NS400 will enter the ever-growing sub-500cc segment, where more and more companies are launching their offerings. The segment has already witnessed new products from Triumph, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield and Husqvarna.

In terms of design, the Pulsar NS400 is likely to feature a sporty styling with a touch of familiar design elements. It may also come with a new trellis frame, sub-frame, and swingarm, possibly making it lighter than the Dominar 400. Apart from that, it could get upside down forks, a monoshock, dual-channel ABS, traction control, slipper clutch, ride modes, an all-digital console with turn-by-turn navigation, and smartphone connectivity, among others.

Having said that, the crux of the new Pulsar NS400 is expected to be a new 398.63cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled LC4c engine that powers the new-gen KTM 390 Duke, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, and Triumph Speed 400/Scrambler 400X. This new motor is a success to the 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produced 43.5PS and 37Nm of torque. In the 390 Duke and Svartpilen 401, the 398.63cc unit makes 46PS and 39Nm of torque, while the Triumph's models deliver 40PS and 37.5Nm.

When it comes to sub-500cc segment, competetive pricing becomes a key aspect to make the offering compelling and Triumph has already done that with its Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. We expect the Bajaj NS400 to come with price tag of Rs 2.10-2.60 lakh.

Currently, the Speed 400 costs at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), then the Dominar 400 has been priced at Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom), and Svartpilen 401 comes with a sticker price of Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the X440 range between Rs 2.39 lakh and Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the new 390 Duke costs Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
