Maruti Suzuki recall over 9,000 vehicles with seat belt related issue

Maruti Suzuki has announced the recall of 9,125 vehicles, including the new Grand Vitara, Ertiga, XL6, and Ciaz. These vehicles were produced between November 2 and November 28, 2022. Maruti Suzuki claims that there may be a flaw in one of the children's sections of the front seatbelts' shoulder height adjustment assembly that might cause the seatbelts to disassemble.

The issue will be communicated to the respective owners by dealer staff. At Maruti's authorized service centres, the vehicle will be inspected and any defective parts (if any) will be replaced without cost to the customer.

This is not Maruti Suzuki's first recall of the year. To address a potential problem with the rear brake assembly pin, the automaker recalled 9,925 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Celerio, and Ignis vehicles in October. These vehicles were produced between August 3 and September 1. For the purpose of correcting the incorrect marking of the wheel rim size, 19,731 Eeco MPVs were recalled in April.

The Nexa models Ciaz, XL6, and Grand Vitara are the only ones affected by the recall; Maruti's Arena dealerships sell the other models. Since the Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder have many similarities, affected Toyota SUVs have also been recalled.
