Mahindra has unveiled its all-electric Thar prototype at the company's current event in Cape Town, South Africa. The Thar.e is the first electric iteration of the SUV Marque's off-roader. Importantly, it debuts as a five-door model, giving us our first look at what the ICE version could also look like, which is set to appear on sale early next year.

Mahindra Thar.e Concept: Design

It has an upright nose with a glossy black finish with 'Thar.e' branding and weird squared-out LED headlamps up front. The Thar is equipped with a robust front steel bumper that gives it a rough and strong appearance.

The Mahindra Thar.e will be available in both 3-door and 5-door configurations. The Mahindra Thar.e is built on the SUV manufacturer's new Inglo-P1 platform, which the company claims is simple to integrate into its design. To fit this new architecture, a few changes have been made. As a result, the wheelbase fluctuates between 2775mm and 2975mm to accommodate the battery pack.

The spare wheel for the Mahindra Thar.e, like the current model, is positioned on the tailgate. The entire appearance is completed with a hefty back bumper and squared-off LED tail lights.

Mahindra Thar.e Concept: Powertrain

Both the 3-door and 5-door models will use the same battery and twin motor setup. It should come with a range of more than 400 kilometers. There will be a twin electric motor arrangement, and 4WD with terrain-specific driving modes should be standard.

Mahindra Thar.e Concept: Interior

The Thar.e's interior is completely redesigned and has little similarity to the present model. The huge touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver's display dominate the interior.

There's also a new three-spoke steering wheel and lots of storage space for your trinkets. Although this is a concept-spec cabin, the production-ready model will most likely undergo several alterations.

Mahindra did not specify a debut date for Thar.e. As a result, the launch might be delayed until 2026 or perhaps 2027.
