Mahindra garners highest-ever monthly sales of 34,508 units in September 2022
Mahindra and Mahindra has now become India's largest maker of utility vehicles, recording sales of 34,262 vehicles in September 2022. The Indian carmaker saw its SUV sales rise by 166 per cent over the same period last year.
The company has overtaken homegrown rival Tata Motors to achieve the top spot in the SUV standings. Although Tata Motors is still ahead in terms of overall PV sales at 43,999 units. Mahindra's automotive business in its entirety sold 64,486 which included 21,666 commercial vehicles.
Mahindra has also registered the highest ever quarterly sales of 1,79,673 vehicles with a growth of 77 per cent over last year. Veejay Nakra, president of Mahindra's automotive divison said of this development,"September was a very exciting month with a strong start to the festive season. We continue to see very strong demand and performance across our portfolio of products, from SUVs, LCV's less than 3.5 tons and our last mile mobility brands. We are delighted that our SUVs have registered the highest ever sales of 34,262 vehicles as well as highest ever overall volumes of 64,486 vehicles for the month of September."
Mahindra's two blockbuster launches, the XUV700 last year and the Scorpio-N this year have been the drivers behind this significant sales uptick. Deliveries for the Scorpio-N have already begun of the over 1 lakh bookings but waiting periods still stretch to well over a year. The XUV700 continues to draw in large numbers and has seen a reduction in wait times despite the supply contraints still plaguing the industry.
