The ES 500e uses a 74.68kWh battery paired with dual electric motors, delivering all-wheel drive. Combined output stands at 343 PS and 438 Nm, enabling a 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.5 seconds. Lexus claims a driving range of up to 580 km on a single charge. Charging options include an 11 kW AC home charger and support for 150 kW DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes.
Alongside the EV, the ES 350h will continue as a petrol-hybrid alternative. It features a 2.5-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor and an e-CVT gearbox, producing a total system output of 247 PS.
Built on the TNGA-K platform shared with the Toyota Camry, the new ES is larger than before, with increases in length, width, height and wheelbase. Lexus has also raised the ground clearance by 20 mm to better suit Indian road conditions.
Design-wise, the new ES adopts Lexus' 'Provocative Simplicity' philosophy, giving it a sharper and more modern appearance. The front features a closed-off grille area with slim 'twin L-signature' lighting, while the profile is highlighted by a coupe-like roofline and distinctive character lines. At the rear, a connected LED light bar and sleek detailing complete the look.
Inside, the cabin focuses on a clean and tech-forward layout. A 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard, paired with a 13.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The interior also gets a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and premium materials aimed at enhancing space and comfort.
Feature highlights include powered and ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual wireless charging pads, a head-up display, and a Mark Levinson sound system. Lexus has also worked on improving cabin insulation for better noise suppression.
On the safety front, the ES comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, blind-spot monitoring and driver attention alerts. It also includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera system, stability control and multiple parking aids.
The new ES continues to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6, while standing out as the only all-electric option in this segment.
