Launched McLaren MP4-12C Spider
McLaren has showed the world that it can bring F1 technology to road-going cars and now the company has added another feather to its cap â" the new MP4-12C Spider. The convertible does away with the roof of the MP4-12C. Mechanically it is still the same. This means a 616PS 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine mated to a 7-speed auto transmission which does 0-100kmph in just 3.1s. The convertible however has a top speed of 326kmph as compared to the 331kmph of its coupe version.
The retractable hard-top takes around 17 seconds to be lowered or put back into its place. The occupants also have a power wind deflector which can be lowered or raised as per convenience. The new McLaren MP4-12c Spider is priced at Rs 1.44 crore excluding duties. Not for the Indian market though!
