KTM 390 Adventure VS Royal Enfield Himalayan

KTM has launched the new 2025 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X for Rs 3.68 lakh and 2.91 lakh, respectively. Now, the KTM 390 Adventure is a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Himalayan that will set you back by 2.98 lakhs ex showroom.

Let's see how both bikes fare against each other when it comes to a spec comparison. Now on paper, the 390 adventure and adventure X, both are powered by a 398.63-cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine that pushes 46 PS at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Also, both bikes use a new split trellis frame with a bolt on sub-frame which makes it look very different than the outgoing version, a fresh look for both bikes.

At the same time The Royale Enfield Himalayan is powered by a 452 CC, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pushes 40.02 PS at 8000 rpm and 40 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. Which is 1 Nm more torque than the 390 Adventure, but the Adventures pushes 6 PS more power than the Himalayan. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

When it comes to suspension, the 390 Adventure, 390 Adventure X and the Himalayan uses a 43-mm USD Fork with 200 mm travel and the rear section gets a monoshock unit for all the three bikes, the Adventure and X gets 205 mm of travel and the Himalayan gets 200 mm of travel, 5 mm less. But the KTM 390 Adventure gets fully adjustable suspension units, unlike the Adventure X and the Himalayan. The KTM Adventure twins get WP APEX units on either end.

The braking duties are done by 320 mm rotors up front for all the three bikes, and at the rear, KTM uses a 240 mm rotor, and Royal Enfield gets a 270 mm rotor, dual-channel ABS is a standard for all the bike. The rear disc of the Royal Enfield Himalayan is 30 mm more than that of the KTM Adventure and the X.

When it comes to the wheels, the KTM 390 Adventure and Himalayan use a 21-inch unit upfront and a 17-inch unit at the rear, they come shod with tubeless spoke wheels. The KTM Adventure X uses a 19-inch unit up front and a 17-inch at the rear, these are alloys.

The standard saddle height of the Himalayan and the Adventure X stands at 825 mm, the 390 adventure has a seat height of 830 mm. But the Himalayan has a provision to increase the height to 845 mm and decrease it to 805 mm, which is a nice feature.

The Himalayan is the heaviest of the lot, tipping the scales at 196 kg, whereas the Adventure X weighs 182 kg and the Adventure weighs 183 Kg. The KTM 390 Adventure is 13 kg lighter when compared to the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

The Tank capacity is also the largest for the Himalayan at 17-litres, when compared to the 14.5-litre tank for the KTM 390 Adventure and the KTM 390 Adventure X.

When it comes to rider aids, that's where the KTM 390 adventure takes the cake, it is loaded to the gills with Cruise Control, Switchable MTC, Cornering MTC, 3 Riding Modes - Street | Rain | Off-Road, Cornering ABS, Offroad ABS, Ride-by-wire, Quickshifter, Slipper clutch, 12V USB socket to name a few.

The Himalayan comes with features like Ride modes, USB type -C port, 4-inch round TFT, Bluetooth tethering, navigation to name a few.
