Kia reveals the striking-looking fifth-gen Sportage

Talking about the design, the new Sportage takes the lighting elements to a new level. We get inverted LED DRLs on the front inside the large Tiger nose grille. The grille gets black mesh pattern and a large brushed chrome slab takes the centre of the grille. The lower part of the bumper gets big air dams and hidden LED fog lights. In a nutshell, the new Sportage is bold but doesn't have a polarising design.

The side profile gets a sleek flowing design and the chrome garnishing extends to the very back and merges with the D-pillar. The rear profile of the Sportage gets a very unique lighting setup. The inverted LED taillights wrap the sides as well and are connected with a black applique. Lower down, we also get to see a unique mesh pattern and faux exhaust ports.

While the exterior may no go with everyone's taste, the interiors are impressive and finished with rich materials. The centre-stage is taken by a big curved twin-screen setup that hosts all the features of the SUV. The touchscreen can also be controlled via the touchpad along with an advanced controller mounted on the lower part of the dash. As the Sportage gets shift-by-wire tech, it does away with the conventional gear lever and offers a dial. The large AC vents for the front passengers take the rest of the dash and we still get physical dials for the AC controls.

More details about the rear seat space, technology and engine options will be revealed at a later date. Kia was considering the fourth-gen Sportage for the Indian market but with the debut of the fifth-gen model, there are high changes of Kia considering the new model for our market. If that stands true, we can expect Kia to launch the new Sportage in the Indian market by late 2022.
